Required documents
Documents for all registrations – please always fill them out and bring them with you!
To register a child at Mierendorff Primary School, the completed and signed registration form for Mierendorff School must always be submitted:
👉️ 📄 Registration form for Mierendorff Primary School incl. eFOEB
Note: The signature of one parent or legal guardian is sufficient on the school registration forms. Both parents/guardians must always sign the after-school care application form. The after-school care application (pages 5-7) only needs to be completed if you would like to make use of early or late care or the vacation after-school care.
ℹ️ Separate registration for additional support and care (after-school care)
(Only necessary if you have not completed and submitted this application together with your school registration)
If your child requires early or late care (before 7:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m.) or vacation care, you must submit an application for supplementary support and care (eFÖB). Please note that the application for eFöB requires a processing time of at least 3 months, over which we as a school have no influence, and should therefore be submitted as early as possible. You are welcome to submit this application when you register for school (the application is included in the school registration form) and we will forward it for you. If you would like to submit the application at a later date, you can find it separately here:
👉️ 📄 Application for additional support and care (after-school care)
Note: Both parents/guardians must always sign the after-school care application.
ℹ️ If your child is to attend another school
(Additionally necessary if your child is to attend another school)
In principle, you should always register your child at the elementary school or community school in your catchment area.
You can also apply to transfer to another school there if there are appropriate reasons permitted by the Education Act, for example:
- Attending the school in question would impair the close personal relationships your child has developed with other children, especially siblings, over the long term.
- You expressly request a specific school program, foreign language or all-day program.
- Attending your chosen school would make it much easier for you to look after your child, especially if you are working.
Procedure
- During the registration period, submit an application for registration at another public primary or community school.
Admission to another primary or community school is only possible if places are available. If a school receives more applications than there are places available, the education authority will examine each individual case. If necessary, it will inform you in good time before the summer vacations of another school in the vicinity that can accept your child. - The application must be printed out, signed and submitted in paper form for school registration. You can also attach further documents (e.g. more detailed reasons) to the application.
Please also attach the supplementary sheet for each preferred school. Thank you!

ℹ️ If your child is to start school early
(Also necessary if your child is to start school early)
The school management is responsible for approving the application for early enrollment; the school place is allocated by the school authority. In order to be able to keep a “court-proof” record of children who have applied, please proceed as follows:
- Parents’ application with date and handwritten signature of both parents
- Invitation of the applicant child to the presentation and school management assesses the eligibility for approval.
- Expert opinion from the daycare center that there is no need for language support OR language proficiency test
- Note from the school management “We agree” on the professional statement from the daycare center or language proficiency test with school stamp, signature and date
- The original documents must be submitted in person to the school of entry.
If your child’s school enrollment is to be postponed
The SenBJF is responsible for approving the application for deferral. The following original documents must be submitted in person to the school of entry:
- Parents’ application with date and handwritten signature of both parents
- Result of the school entry examination 109
- Expert opinion from the daycare center that deferral is approved
- Existing daycare place
ℹ️ Relocation: If your child has moved into the school’s catchment area
(Additionally required if your child has moved to the school’s catchment area)
Children moved into the school area are always checked by the school authorities.
For this reason, the parent or legal guardian must provide evidence of the move. Suitable documents for this are
- Rental or purchase agreement
- Invoice from moving company or rental car as proof that the move has taken place, address destination check
- Reregistration of electricity supply contract or other supply contracts
- Re-registration based on extract from the population register, change of address at bank, health insurance company
- Other meaningful documents proving that the child has its actual center of life at the address given.
The original documents must be submitted in person to the school of entry.
School enrollment examination / school medical examination
Before your child is allowed to go to school, they must be examined by the school doctor.
Tests are carried out on speech, motor skills (movement) and knowledge in order to assess the child’s level of development. The doctor physically examines the child and carries out a hearing and eye test. The school medical examination is required by law,
Prerequisites: Minimum age 5 years
The examination takes place before the child starts school. Your child must already be enrolled in elementary school.
Please book an appointment for a school medical examination from 13.10.2025 at the link https://fms.verwalt-berlin.de/esu/frm/start?execution=e1s2
What happens after registration?
After registration and the school medical examination, you will receive an invitation to the first parents’ evening before school starts. This is an information evening for all parents of future first graders.
In the meantime, you can find out more about what the school has to offer on the school website. In particular the 📖 welcome booklet 👋 contains lots of important and interesting information for a successful start to school.
