On Saturday, September 13, the time had finally come: Mierendorff Primary School welcomed its new first graders. Two school enrollment ceremonies took place in our gymnasium – at 9:30 a.m. for classes 1a and 1b and at 10:30 a.m. for classes 1c, 1d and the new welcome class.
After a welcoming speech by our principal, Mr. Schnelle, a colourful program awaited the children and their families. The school choir opened the celebrations with cheerful songs, including the lively “Singen ist ne cool Sache”. A special highlight was the school song specially composed by our music teacher Mr. Lexow, which was performed enthusiastically by the pupils – a real MieRie experience!
Afterwards, the children excitedly and full of anticipation entered their new classrooms for the very first time with their class teachers and educators. Many of them brought artfully designed and creatively crafted school cones.
The parents of the second classes provided refreshments together with the Friends’ Association. Parents, grandparents and guests chatted to each other over cake, pretzels and drinks. The proceeds from the sale support the work of the Friends’ Association and thus our entire school community. If you are interested, all parents are cordially invited to join the Friends’ Association, for more information visit https://www.fv-mierie.de/
The weather also played along on this special day and gave us sunshine that morning – the perfect accompaniment for a successful start to school. We are delighted to welcome our new pupils and wish you a wonderful start with lots of exciting experiences, new friends and lots of fun learning!
