On Friday, January 9th, the day of storm Elli, the school day was very different than usual. While 469 pupils normally attend our school, there were only 24 children on site that day. The empty corridors and classrooms created an unusual, almost silent atmosphere.
The few children present spent the day in a calm and cozy atmosphere. There was a lot of painting, and in between the children also learned some German and math, without any time pressure and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Teachers and children made themselves comfortable together. In the third and fourth lessons, some of the children watched the movie “Taming Dragons Made Easy”, while others preferred to continue drawing and put snowmen on paper, for example.
Many thanks to all the teachers and educators who were present on this day and provided active support. Their efforts ensured that the children were well looked after and had a positive experience of the special school day despite the exceptional circumstances.
This turned a stormy and extraordinary day into a calm school day that will certainly be remembered by all those involved for a long time to come.
