“School News – June 2026”

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today we would like to update you on some current topics related to school life.

Incident on June 17 – New Rules for Entering School Grounds

On June 17, 2026, a parent entered the school grounds accompanied by a well-known public figure: the rapper Hassuna Badane. This caused considerable commotion: Numerous students left their classes, videos were recorded and posted online—a clear violation of our cell phone policy as well as data protection regulations. The videos were taken down at our request. In addition, students left the school grounds and went out onto the street unaccompanied. We were unable to supervise them.

If your child has taken any photos, they must not share them, as doing so would constitute a violation of privacy. Please make sure they follow this rule.

To ensure the safety of all children on an ongoing basis, the following rule will take effect immediately in light of recent events:

  • The school grounds will remain closed to parents until 2:30 p.m.
  • The first dismissal time is at 2:30 p.m., and the second is at 4:00 p.m.
  • Pickups take place exclusively in the designated area.
  • Please wait outside the school grounds until the designated dismissal time.

We kindly ask you to respect this policy and prepare your children accordingly. Only by working together can we ensure a safe and peaceful school day.

Federal Youth Games – Date Change

Due to the persistently high temperatures, we are postponing the Federal Youth Games to September 18, 2026. September 25, 2026, has been set as the alternate date. Since Berlin is currently experiencing a heat wave, we do not want to deliberately put the students’ health at risk. We look forward to celebrating the sporting highlight of the school year together under better conditions at that time.

Chewing gum is not allowed at school

Unfortunately, we must bring to your attention a growing problem: There are pieces of chewed gum stuck in numerous areas of our carpet, which are difficult to remove and cause permanent damage. We therefore strongly ask that you do not send your children to school with chewing gum. Bringing chewing gum to school and chewing it are not permitted anywhere on school grounds.

Please send only water to school

It’s important to ensure your child stays properly hydrated during the school day—especially now during the warmer months. However, we ask that you send your child to school with water only. Juices, sodas, syrup-based drinks, and other sugary beverages are not allowed at school. They leave sticky residue on the carpet, attract pests, and impair the children’s ability to concentrate. A simple water bottle filled with fresh tap water is the best choice.

We sincerely thank you for your support and understanding.

Yours sincerely

Andreas Schnelle
