Topics: “Barriers at crosswalks, own survey on so-called “FlexGanztag”, pick-up situationat the end of the school day, critical discussions, last day of school”
Dear parents,
I would like to inform you today about some important topics and ask for your support.
Barriers at the crosswalk – safety of our pupils
I am delighted to inform you that our district councillor Ms. Schmitt-Schmelz has kept her word. The barrier poles at the crossings and at the front stretch of the crosswalk have been installed. A defective barrier bar has been replaced. As soon as the exterior design of the school building progresses further, movable fireman’s poles are to be installed at the fire department access road. These can no longer be removed from their anchoring, which happened frequently in the past.
A big thank you goes to our district councillor, who reacted quickly compared to others and took this measure to protect our pupils on the sidewalk.
Own survey on the so-called “FlexGanztag”
From July 14 to September 5, 2025, an in-house survey will be conducted on the benefits of the Flex full day. The aim is to find out how well the offer works and where improvements can be made.
The results that are collected by the university as part of the accompanying research are primarily available to the school trial. We are not currently receiving the results. We are in contact with the FU in order to improve the exchange of data in the future.
For the survey, we developed anonymous questionnaires for pupils, teaching staff and parents. We placed particular emphasis on data protection. The survey is conducted online.
Our aim is to optimize the organization and implementation of the school trial. The results should be made transparent in order to make the school even better. The survey also offers scope for criticism. Help us to further develop our school – your cooperation is very important to us. You will receive further information about the survey in the next 10 days.
Pick-up situation at the end of the school day
I would like to remind you again that you can collect your children in the foyer. Pupils should not be picked up in person in the early and late service or in the apple tree area. We are concerned for the safety of the children. Unfortunately, some parents also approach other children in this protected area to question or reprimand them. Such conversations are only possible in the presence of the child’s parents.
The corridors are full at pick-up time and there are often misunderstandings when making arrangements. Use other ways of communicating. Send an e-mail or make a phone call to your caregiver.
Exceptions to the pick-up rule only exist if a corresponding agreement has been made with the caregiver.
Critical discussions need time
Unfortunately, I have to draw your attention to a form of dialog with the teaching staff during pick-up time that is not possible in this form. It happens again and again that parents want to have detailed discussions with the teaching staff about school matters or problems during pick-up time, in which words are spoken that are not intended for the ears of our pupils.
Our educators are happy to talk to you. However, I would ask you to make an appointment to ensure a calm and appropriate atmosphere in which everything can be discussed and clarified.
“Mierie Show”
Our second Mierie show of the school year starts on July 22 at 2.30 pm. In this event, our students will show what they have trained, practiced and learned in the Flex modules (time between 2.30 pm and 4.00 pm). You are cordially invited.
I wish you a wonderful time with your child and thank you very much for your support.
Yours sincerely
Andreas Schnelle
