Topics: “person from outside the school, information on the strike measures, youth welfare office”
Dear parents,
I would like to inform you today about some important topics and ask for your support.
Incident with a person from outside the school
Last week there was an incident in which a person from outside the school entered the school in a drunken state. Thanks to attentive parents, we were able to find out about this at an early stage.
Our teachers and educators immediately searched for the man and finally found him on the sports field. After a colleague asked him to leave the school, he complied.
Safety measures and behavior at school
Basically, the problem is that we cannot lock the school after 8.00 a.m. for fire safety reasons. Unfortunately, some pupils continue to arrive at school late, which makes it difficult to implement appropriate measures.
We have therefore issued a clear instruction to school staff: people from outside the school must be approached immediately and asked to leave the school if necessary. There is no security guard at the school door; our staff act actively and responsibly to ensure everyone’s safety.
Your support is needed:
Please be vigilant and let us know if you make any suspicious observations. Only together can we ensure the safety of our children.
Strike measures
The three-day warning strike draws attention to grievances in the school system and is justified. It presents us with major challenges. According to personnel law, every colleagueis free to take part in the strike. The strikers only need to make this decision on the day of the strike. Many colleagues have already informed us of their decision in advance.
I have therefore decided to give parents the choice: they can decide whether to make use of the emergency care or leave their child at home. As the involvement of staff is still unclear, it is difficult to make a complete plan.
Many colleagues will not take part in the strike and will continue with their regular lessons. So if you receive a message from your class teacher that lessons will take place as planned, this decision has been made in consultation with the school management and is expressly supported by me.
The youth welfare office has moved
The youth welfare office has now moved out of the school building and is located in the new extension. The last furniture was removed during the Easter vacations. The vacated space is now being gutted to make room for new subject rooms and classrooms. Please understand that this will take some time. I have not yet been given a specific time frame for when the new rooms can be actively used again.
I wish you a wonderful time with your child and thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
Andreas Schnelle
